| What
are the sources of funding to support teacher participation in Science Project
activities? |
|||||
|
If provided by the project, stipends may be available to support teacher participation. Local entitlement funds for the Mentor Teacher Program, school improvement (SIP), Improving America's Schools Act (IASA), Instructional Time and Professional Development Reform Program, and others also provide funding. Contact your district for information about each of these programs and whether they are able to fund your participation? |

| Does the Science Project serve classroom teachers exclusively? | |||||
| While most participants are practicing teachers, many participants have been administrators, university faculty, and pre-service teachers. | |||||
| I'm interested in receiving units for my participation in this institute. Is that possible? | |||||
| Yes. We offer a certain number of units for participation in the institute. We will pass out forms at the beginning of the session. These are due, along with the discounted amount due, by the end of the session. We cannot retroactively offer credit, so if you even think you might want credit, consider paying the small fee and filling out the paperwork. Because of our funding through the state, you receive credits for a greatly discounted cost. | |||||

| I am not from a Central Coast school district, can I still attend? | |||||
| The Central Coast Science Project is designed to serve teachers and administrators from the Central Coast. For this reason, you will find that you won't get as much out of the institute as a teacher from this area will. However, if you are still interested, please contact Lola Berber-Jimenez if you are still interested. We have had participants from as far away as Bakersfield. Out of area participation is decided on a case by case basis and is dependent on the limited room available to the institute. | |||||
